Consistency

Taken from Cleveland.com article on Women's 10 mile championships

One of the goals of the site is to get people excited about running.  Part of that is talking to people who themselves live and breathe the sport.  When possible, I am going to post interviews I do with various characters, personalities, and figures in the running community.  These could be local, they could be national.  Regardless, they share a passion about running and I hope you enjoy hearing their thoughts on this wonderful sport.

On the down side, my best medium for completing these interviews on the national level is recording Skype on a wireless connection.  Sometimes the quality isn’t that great, my apologies.

This version of SimpleTalk was down with Team Minnesota USA member Katie McGregor (USATF profile).  She took some time last week to talk to me for a few minutes.  I try to pull one or two things from each of these interviews that I can highlight as a message for runners of any level to learn from.  So here is what I got from Katie:

Be consistent and have faith.  That means don’t jump from training method to training method.  Make sure you take care of your body with proper eating, stretch/do the core work, and believe in what you are doing.  Pretty simple things for all of us to keep in mind as plan your build-up to your fall races.

Hopefully you enjoy the chat.  Thanks a bunch Katie and best of luck as you prep for the Women’s Marathon Trials in Houston in January, 2012!!
