The RIght Time

Every runner trains to race the best they can on a certain day. For us at North Star that day is the Nebraska State Cross Country meet. Typically held the third Friday of October in Kearney, NE. This is the meet we peak for and try to get to every year. In our eight years, we have qualified five times now. Pretty good I would say.

But the best part, for both a runner and coach, is when you have a great day on the day you are training for.  Each of our runners:  Treza Kuong (11) ,

Mohamed Hamdan (10)

James Tang (11)

Matt Keeshan (12), David Dep (11), Philip Truong (10), Josh Neumann (12), and Brand Scdoris (12) raced to either lifetime PRs or season bests.  It was awesome. James and Mohamad went 9th and 5th respectively.  Our boys finished 6th when they were not even ranked going into districts (state qualifying meet).  It was so much fun to watch this young woman and these young men train and race the way they did.  The satisfaction of seeing this easily offsets the stress and crap one deals with as a high school coach and what we try to do with these kids.

Look for a feature coming up with some of my favorite images from the fall season.

    Coach,

As a Gator fan I was quite pleased how our team performed at state. As the paper stated, North Star finished the best of any Lincoln team. You coaches know what you are doing over there. To many more successes!
